If you ask me if working from home is a good thing, I will proudly say YES! But I’m sure it differs from person to person.
Some people think working from home will provide them with too many distractions, while others thrive in social situations and just NEED to be surrounded by people to perform well. Then there’s the group of people that finds it important to keep work and their private life as separate as possible – in different locations, that is.
And then there’s me, the introvert. I LOVE working from home and I wouldn’t trade it for any other job at this point! And even if you don’t identify as an introvert yourself, I think it’s still very refreshing for you to work from a home office. It opens up so many new possibilities for your career!

So here’s 6 valid reasons why working from home is super productive AND satisfactory. Coming from someone who’s worked in an office, in a leisure job, in entertainment and in a gym before and is now LOVING LIFE as a girl boss working from the home front.

6 Reasons why working from home is good
So, why do I feel the need to defend the home office and elaborate on why working from home is actually a good thing? Because honestly I feel like there’s a negative stigma around it. People tend to think it’s anti-social, distracting and unproductive. But it’s really not, though!
My favorite things about working from home are:
- Freedom. In so many different ways!
- No travel time. Sleeping in on workdays. Yep!
- No distractions in terms of co-workers. No small talk, no noise, no rivalry.
- Ability to create your own inspirational space. Your house, your rules.
- Great for pets and children. No more crates and babysitters!
- No need to get ready every day. Hair up, makeup off, wooly socks on.
1. Freedom
As a home worker, you have SO MUCH freedom. In so many different ways! For starters, you get to decide where you work from.
Are you not feeling well today? That’s okay, you can just work on your laptop in bed or on the couch.
Are you not feeling your office space today? Okay, just grab your bag and take your laptop to the local coffee shop and work from there!
Have you always wanted to travel the world? Do it! You can work from your Airbnb and type documents while you are chilling on the beach.
You also have the freedom to take a day off on very short notice. That way you can receive friends or family when something unexpected happens, go to a fun event that comes up, go to the shops or a theme park when it’s not crowded, or just take a day off when you feel like it. You can catch up on work hours later, if necessary.
When you are your own boss, the freedom only gets bigger. You get to decide what your job is! I am a full-time blogger and I get to write about THINGS I LOVE and MAKE MONEY DOING IT!!

2. No travel time
On average, people spend an hour getting both to and from work on a daily basis. So that’s two hours wasted. Every day. Five days a week. Isn’t that a huge waste of time?!
Sure, if you travel by train you can pull out your laptop and do some work from there.. if you have a seat. And what if your train is delayed? Unnecessary stress in my opinion.
And if you travel by car or bike you can’t even be productive during those lost hours, because you need to focus on the road and getting to work safely!
I spend that extra hour in the morning in bed. And when I finish my work and turn off my iMac at the end of the day, I can go to the gym or sit down on the couch straight away. Or I can choose to do some overtime and spend those ‘travel hours’ on my job. Working from home is the best!
3. No distractions in terms of co-workers
Whether you love being surrounded by people or not – you can’t deny that they can be a distraction.
You spend the first part of your Monday morning catching up with everyone, discussing the weekend activities.
Then there’s some chatter during work time as well, which probably happens more than you’d think.
And the breaks that sometimes take a little longer because you HAVE to finish that conversation before you go back to work.
The questions from co-workers, the meetings, your co-worker’s phone calls, the people walking around grabbing coffee and asking if you’d like some too (umm.. yes please!).
And let’s not forget about other kinds of distractions – like that one co-worker who turns up the volume of their headphones just a bit too high, so you can vaguely hear their music.
The other co-worker that’s humming along.
The two in the corner that are having a conversation (work-related or not).
And the one whose phone keeps going off.
And do you know what I hear? Silence. And my own music if I feel like it. No distractions!
4. your own inspirational space
At work there’s rules you should keep to. Like the way your workspace should look.
At home you can decorate your home office however you want to. Do you like green walls? Paint your office wall green. Do you want to hang up framed quote posters? Do as you will. Do you like to be surrounded by plants? By all means, turn your home office into a green house.

It’s your space, so you get to surround yourself by whatever inspires you!
For example I like to decorate my office space with seasonal props. In autumn I am surrounded by pumpkins and orange leaves, in winter I pull out the Christmas decorations and cotton stalks, and in spring and summer I decorate with lots of pastels and flowers. That’s what makes me feel happy.
5. Great for pets and children
You can’t deny that being home the majority of your time is GREAT when you have pets or children!
You’re always around to intervene when something happens and you can cut down on daycare or nanny costs!
And your sweet doggie won’t have to stay in their crate for so many hours everyday.
Everyone wins, right?
6. No need to get ready every day
Take it however you want to, but I think this is a positive thing.
I love the fact that I am not pressured into looking ‘great’ every day. The feeling of getting some early morning work done in your pajamas is WONDERFUL. But then again, I thrive in cozy vibes.
It’s good to let your skin breathe by not putting on makeup (you could even use a refreshing face mask while working!) and your hair will suffer less damage from daily styling. And in the long run you save money on makeup and hair products as well! And you save time. Lots of time. Which is GOOD!
I don’t know about you, but I am convinced. Working from home is good!
