For a while now, I have been obsessed with fashion illustrator Anastasia Kosyanova’s (nastya_kosyanova on Instagram) Disney Princess collection.
After fangirling over her merchandise and aggressively double-tapping every one of her posts on Insta, I took a step back and realized some of the garments that her fabulous fashionista princesses are wearing look very similar to things I own myself.
I do not own the real deal of course, as the theme of her illustration series is high end fashion featuring some of the most loved (and expensive!) brands such as Chanel, Prada and Gucci. Yeah, sadly you won’t find those in my wardrobe. But I do happen to own some similar pieces (let’s just say budget versions).
Recreating High End Fashion Disney Princesses In Real Life
Naturally I couldn’t resist recreating Anastasia’s wonderful illustrations. So here’s the end result, featuring… me. In badly styled wigs, kock-off versions of the clothes and my totally awkward and unprofessional posing! Hahaha!
Apologies in advance, I was just having fun with this!
Rapunzel in Prada
Starting off with my personal favourite Disney Princess, Rapunzel! Dressed in a mustard yellow oversized sweater, straight sweatpants and white sneakers. Honestly, this is something I would wear because I’m all about that comfy life!
I had so much fun recreating this look, as the items I own are pretty close to the real thing! And what a joy to try and add her long locks to my own head. Turned out quite alright, didn’t it?

Aurora in Valentino
Woah, this look is one of my favourites! Partly because I love pink, and partly because I love flowy materials. I never would have thought of pairing this skirt with an oversized grey knitted sweater, but it works!

Anna in DSquared2
Another one of my favourite looks! Probably because it looks SO wearable and casual! It’s very close to my own style on a very casual day. And I’m all about that hair scarf life, really.

Pocatontas in Fendi
I can NOT pull this off the way Pocahontas does! I’m just too pale and awkward, really. But oh man, this outfit makes you feel like you can conquer the world! I couldn’t find any feathery items like Poca’s earrings and the detailing on her jacket. But it’s close enough, right?

SnowWhite in Tiffany & Co.
I thought this one was going to be a disaster, but I am pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Red is generally not my colour, let alone an all-red look. But it kind of works! And can I just get a pat on the back for styling this wig? Another presumed disaster that turned out okay-ish!

Moana in Versace
I’m so sorry Moana, you deserve better. Moana looks so FIERCE in this outfit, and I look like a toddler with a smug face. But still, the colour scheme of this dress is so weirdly similar, I HAD to include this look in this post! Let’s ignore the wig, because yikes.

Mulan in Tom Ford
This look is SO Mulan. And SO not me. And we’re just ignoring my awkward pose and the wig.
I LOVE the all black outfit combined with the brown jacket. Also the shoes are such a statement piece, I love it! I wish I could pull it off as well as my beloved Chinese warrior princess.

Belle in Gucci
I thought this one was going to be cute, but it turns out this style looks better on Belle than it does on me. My awkward short stumpy legs don’t go well with short dresses and sneakers! But still, it’s an adorable look and I would totally wear it if it suited my body better! Also, I need to clean my white sneakers..

Tiana in Louis Vuitton
Tiana’s dark complexion makes this basic outfit look SO much more glam than mine does! But I still love this look because it’s so casual yet stylish. And it goes with my favourite pair of sneakers, so that’s a win!

Merida in Moschino
Oh Merida, I know you are a wild gal and you can pull this look off. But we are too different! It was fun to dress up like this, but I cringe looking at my picture haha! I also feel like it would be cuter if my t-shirt had a print of sorts on it. Nice try, though.

Ariel in Dior
LOVE! I love the basic outfit with the pops of bright red! Makes me wish I had Ariel’s hair in real life.

Elsa in Ralph Lauren
Ending with a blast! I love Elsa’s look and this is something I would totally wear! I just need a cute brown bag to go with it, like hers. Yes, queen!!

I was a bit hesitant to include some of these (basically all the women of colour, because I simply cannot pull of their stunning looks with my blinding pale skin) but here we go. Sadly I couldn’t find anything similar to Cinderella and Jasmine’s outfits, so I left those two out.
Let me know what you think!!
