For years I’ve been wanting to buy a decent concealer, but I never actually did it. Now, finally, I invested in a great one – the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. And gosh, I’m so glad I did!
This little guy is now part of my daily routine. Even when I’m not wearing a full face of makeup – which I hardly ever do as I don’t like long morning routines – I don’t skip this step, ever (since I bought this concealer, that is). This product makes my face look fresh and awake. And since I don’t like the taste of coffee, I’ll take anything to look or feel awake in the early morning!

The packaging – cuteeee! Even my baby cactus is taller (that’s good for his self esteem, he’s always the smallest). Despite the size, I think this product goes a long way. Like I said I’ve been using it every day for about a month now and I can only see a very tiny line of transparant glass on top. I’m guessing this product will last maybe a year or so? The flacon has the signature MAC Cosmetics look and feel and is made of glass with a matte black lid on top. Oh, and unlike the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, this one does come with a handy pump!

Since I bought this concealer and my earlier mentioned MAC foundation at the same time, I chose for the NC shade for both, which stands for Neutral Cool (but I think of it as ‘Not Cool’). If you’re not sure about the difference between NC and NW, check out the second paragraph of my MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation review. For the foundation I chose NC20, but for the concealer I went lighter, NC15. Why? Because I want to lighten the triangle shape under my eyes and maybe even use it as a base for highlighter. It’s a very light shade that goes well with my skin tone, but still has a warm undertone that looks extremely natural.
The liquid itself is very lightweight and thin and it’s a tad more runny than the foundation when you pump it onto your hand (yeah I keep comparing those two, because I use them both daily). Speaking of the pump, the only downside is that you can’t dose the product. I always end up with a little too much product on my hand that I just spread across my face, but it does feel like a waste. But then again, the bottle lasts a long time as you only need a little pump a day.

The product is very pigmented, so I usually put three dots under every eye and use the rest on my nose, T-zone and blemishes. Blending and layering is very easy so this concealer is lovely to work with. Personally, I tend to use my fingers to blend (lazy..) which works really well. I have tried a concealer brush once, and that works fine as well. I just think brushes tend to make the result look a bit more streaky if you don’t do it well. I haven’t tried a sponge yet, but I can imagine that this works wonders!
I would call this concealer medium coverage, although very close to full coverage!
This concealer is just lovely and I can’t imagine myself using another concealer in the near future. It was a worthy investment. The MAC Pro Longwear Concealer retails for €18,00 or USD $20.00 for a bottle that contains 9 ml / 0.30 fl oz.
– Small packaging that doesn’t take up much space in your makeup bag
– Great (medium, close to full) coverage
– Easy to blend
– A little bit goes a long way
– Allows build up
– Lots of color options for both warm and cool skin tones
– The pump gives you too much product at once
– It’s a pricey concealer
