As much as I love high end makeup products, perfectly pressed into their shiny and luxurious packaging, I simply can’t afford most of those gems. Hands up if you’re in the same boat! Luckily I found some great (and affordable!) substitutes for said overpriced products. And I’m feeling generous, so I’m sharing them today.
I have listed some of my favourite affordable makeup products that I would totally recommend to anyone who is looking for good quality for a fair price. My personal top picks, in no particular order:
L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Dewy Glow Foundation. I am no stranger to different kinds of foundations, from liquids to powders. But I have to admit I had never tried a cushion foundation before trying this specific product. I was intrigued by the idea and decided to give it a fair try. I do prefer to use my beauty blender to apply the foundation, rather than the included applicator, but the product itself is billiant! It blends very well and provides a medium and natural looking coverage that lasts all day.
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. To finish off and seal in my foundation, I like to apply a subtle layer of powder. This product by Rimmel is perfect for the job. I use the colour ‘Transparent (001)’ for a natural and matte finish that gives off a natural vibe.
L’Oréal Mega Volume Miss Manga Punky Mascara. L’Oréal is my alltime favourite mascara brand. I’ve tried numerous different variations of their black mascara, and I love them all equally for their dark pigment, easy application and durability. Right now I am using the Miss Manga ‘Punky’ one.
Maybelline SuperStay 14H One Step Lipstick. For a long lasting and non-sticky lipstick, I would totally recomment this one. I own the colour ‘Lasting Chestnut (720)’, which is a rich brownish red shade. And may I just quickly mention how good it smells?! It reminds me of raspberries and I just want to eat it!
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick. I own ‘Pink Pearl (108)’, which is my personal favourite shade of lipstick! As you might have noticed, soft pinks and pastels are my aesthetic, so this pearly baby pink matches perfectly. It applies very smoothly and gives off a sweet and girly vibe.
A good place to buy makeup online is Makeupshoppen.nl. The products I mentioned above are all available on their webshop, amongst other great products and brands, both high end and drugstore.
Also, I just wanted to mention it is okay to not have a full stash of high end makeup. I am the proud owner of merely a couple of expensive pieces mixed in with lots of affordable drugstore products. And it works for me! Makeup is such a fun hobby and a creative expression of your own style – we shouldn’t let the price tags limit ourselves!
