REVIEW | MAC Whirl lipliner

Hi everyone! How was your weekend? After writing some beauty product reviews, I realized that I really enjoy them! So even though this is mainly a fashion blog, I will keep sharing these reviews every once in a while. This time I’m focusing on my newest beauty purchase – the Whirl lipliner from MAC!

As some of you may have read in my recent purchases post, I finally managed to get my hands on a very famous MAC lipliner named Whirl! Ever since that day, I have used it almost daily, so I thought this would be a good time to put a spotlight on it!

Whirl MAC

The reason I really wanted this lipliner is because of the fact that it goes so well with the Faux lipstick. Rumor has it that this is the combination that Kylie Jenner uses to achieve her signature plump lips. The color is a warm shade that balances in between deep brown and red with a pink-ish undertone.

To me the application of this liner is very pleasant. It glides on smoothly and it’s very pigmented on first touch. I find that most lipliners (when freshly sharpened) irritate my lips when applying, but Whirl feels a bit softer, so I can apply a bit of pressure to draw more precise lines without hurting my lips.

Most drug store lipliners tend to dry out my lips, but Whirl doesn’t do that at all. I do always hydrate my lips with Baby Lips before applying this lipliner (or basically any liner). But even after a while my lips still feel soft and hydrated.

Talking about duration, this lipliner stays on a fair amount of time! I always wear it with a bit of Faux lipstick on top, that way the lipstick and the lipliner basically set each other for a longer lasting lip look. I usually need to re-apply the lipstick after an hour or three when drinking and eating in between, the lipliner stays on pretty much all day (when combined with the lipstick).

Before & after

As you can see, my lips have a pretty bright shade of pink naturally, so that especially brings out the pink undertone in Whirl and Faux. I really like that, because it makes my lips look plumper and more defined, without it being obvious that I’m wearing lipstick. I really love bright lip colors on other girls, but I’m not a fan of that on my own lips. It doesn’t look right to me! I like to keep it as natural as possible!

Whirl, in combination with Faux, is becoming part of my daily routine, so I’m really glad I bought it! Like I said in my last MAC review – once you go MAC, you never go back! The MAC virus is very contagious and I’ve been infected. Oh well!

Oh, on another note – I just realized today is april 1st. So beware of April fools jokes, y’all! Have a nice day!

What is your go-to lip color?

Love always,
