Rebranding my life

Well, the title sounds a bit overly dramatic, I have to admit. But I am in the midst of changing some vital things at the moment. Curious? Yeah, me too, to be honest. I’ll tell you more about it here. So go ahead and grab a tea, coffee, hot choc, or if you are plain and basic like me: a glass of water.

Rebranding my social media

Finding my self-worth

I recently quit my job because I was determined to get my master’s degree. Why? Perhaps to make myself feel like I’ve finally achieved something I can genuinely be proud of and build upon in my future career. Who knows. It’s something I’ve been struggling with a lot lately and I have been looking for ways to somehow fulfill that need of – I’m not even sure how to put it into words – self-worth? Turns out the universe didn’t quite agree with that plan, because I got turned down. The reason being that my prior education doesn’t match the course I applied for. Well, in that case, how do I ever get a degree in something that I actually enjoy, if the education system in this country won’t allow me to follow a course solely because my previous course (which was a huge mistake) doesn’t line up? Impossible. I genuinely can’t get my head around it. Anyway, that is a whole other story which I am not going to cover today.

So here I am. Unemployed, but full of newfound ambitions. I initially wanted to get a degree in what they call ‘New Media Design’. I want to be online, create and share content and build a relevant audience to connect with. When they turned me down I realized I don’t need them, anyway. Who needs that stupid piece of paper? I can just start my own business so I won’t have to go through the continuous agony of being turned down for every creative job I apply for, simply because I don’t have the right background. I can be my own boss. And I will. So I made an appointment to register my business. I’m going there on the 2nd of january 2019 (exactly one year after my very last day working in Disneyland Paris.. iconic) and I’ll be working as a fulltime freelance content creator. How is that going to work out? No idea. Will I get paid jobs and projects? Who knows. All I can do is hope for the best. One thing is for sure though: I know I will enjoy what I do. But gosh is it scary and uncertain.

Rebranding my style

I have been working hard on creating content for Instagram and YouTube the past few weeks. And starting from january I will be regularly posting on this blog again. About time! And to make everything a bit more cohesive I decided to rebrand myself, my social media and indirectly my life. For the longest time I’d been sticking to that ‘perfect’ black and white contrast, magazine-esque, fashion aesthetic. But you know what? That’s not me at all! I love pastels, I love cute things, and I love Harry Potter and Disney. So I’ve decided to step away from the ‘clean and minimalistic fashion blogger’ theme, and change my Instagram theme to pastels (mainly peach) in which I post content related to Harry Potter and Disney. And the occasional beauty, fashion and lifestyle post, because those things will always be part of me! I decided to mix things up and change my feed to light, sweet and peachy. Oh, how peachy.

I am a content creator

And with this new style I hope to build up a sustainable ‘brand’ which I can use as a portfolio to hopefully appeal to brands and companies so I can create content for them (both text and visuals), hopefully collaborate and slowly start making a living. Running a webshop on the side is something I’ve been looking into as well, because building an audience obviously takes time and I need to earn a living in the meantime. I’d like to get into graphic design more and possibly do something with that, e-commerce wise.

Rebranding my niche

Okay, yo’ girl needed to get this off her chest. So we’re good now. All is well. I hope you continue to support me by following my social media and occasionally reading my blog (thank you SO much from the bottom of my heart!). And to my fellow Disney fans: I promise there is loads of ‘former cast member’ related content coming your way soon, both on Youtube and on here!

Thanks a million times and don’t forget to give me a cheeky follow on Instagram!

Love always,
Denise

Yay! Thank you!! I feel like this style suits me so much better, rather than the darker theme!
